(z)onder het water is a light installation that, by combining light, sound and wind, aims to transport the spectator to another world.
Tiago Sá da Costa’s Casuluz lamps, previously presented as design products, are here re-contextualized and multiplied, to create a unique ambience of wonder and experience that awakes in the spectator feelings of curiosity, marvel and comfort.
The precision and technology of laser cutting is juxtaposed with the organicity and handcrafting of cork to give shape to the lamp shades. In these peculiar cork pods, the warm light bounces around on its inner surface and escapes through its slits, projecting itself onto the walls and affects the imaginary of the viewer. The light projections are combined with motion and sound, producing a peculiar atmosphere that transports the spectator to a make-believe underwater world.
This project was presented at the Dutch Design Week 2017, in Eindhoven and at NDSM Fuse in 2021.
