Laser cutting combined with a unique handmade process transform, a cork sheet into a decorative and organic lamp shade where the light reflecting on the cork and slipping through its holes creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. Its name, Tonatiuh Corkmatters Pendant Lamp, derives from the ancient Aztec sun god.
Tonatiuh Corkmatters Pendant Lamp is made with a sustainable concern in the production method. All Corkmatters products are handmade with natural materials (with the exception of the electrical components). In this production method cork is crafted in a unique way, completely different from how it is usually done, where the physical properties of cork are explored to an utmost aesthetic use.
Combining laser cutting technology with a non-pollutant handmade shaping process. Two dimensional cork sheets are unfolded into three dimensional sculptural objects.
